Lake Tahoe
Day 2--Shirley Lake and beyond

Trailhead for route that gained over 2000 ft of elevation within 3 miles to reach 8200 ft. It took us 3.5 hrs to hike it. Started in Squaw Valley and climbed up to Silver Peak and the Tahoe Basin.

Baxter was hotel owner's dog. He was on several hikes with us.

This is the section where Bob tripped, fell on a rock, and dislocated his finger (pic at end of slides). Trail guide pulled into place. Not going to let a little boo-boo keep Bob from completing the hike!

MG and her new hiking companion. The two were inseperable the whole week.

Shirley Lake. A nice respite as we continue to climb.

The summit just ahead!

Lot's of ski lifts to various parts of this mountain.

The good thing was that we did not have to hike back down. Took the cable car!

Squaw Valley village where we ate lunch.
